Cancer Center Reference Library and Librarian: Our reference librarian, Jean Winkler, majored in Education and Library Science at the University of Mississippi. She became the librarian at the Connie Delaney Medical Library at Valley View in 2012. She believes that knowledge is our greatest ally to keep our community healthy and connects patients and their caregivers with the appropriate information to help them make informed healthcare decisions.
Integrated Therapies: Our patients have access to additional modalities of support through our Integrated Therapies program, which is funded entirely by Rally the Valley, a community event that’s held each summer. Therapies available to our patients include: Acupuncture, Therapeutic Massage, Therapeutic Touch, Yoga and Tai Chi classes, Craniosacral Massage, and Heart Math Mentoring.
Labyrinth Meditation: Walking our labyrinth helps patients, caregivers and our medical staff practice the meditative experience of present-moment awareness.
Cancer Walk and Talk Support Group: Led by cancer survivor and psychologist Nancy Reinisch on Thursdays from 10 a.m. until noon, patients walk together for forty minutes then come back to the chapel to talk about their life journeys.
Caregivers Support Group: Led by Chaplain Sean Jeung on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month from 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. in the chapel, this gathering offers a safe place for caregivers to share the triumphs and trials of their experiences.
Creative Expressions: This creative writing group led by Chaplain Sean Jeung and held at 10:30 a.m. until noon on the second Wednesday of every month helps patients express the thoughts, concerns and celebrations they experience in facing a health challenge like cancer.
