After Surgery

If you are a "Morning Surgical Admission" you will be taken to your hospital room after your stay in the Recovery Room.

If you are an outpatient, you will return to the Day Surgery Unit where you will stay for 1-4 hours. During this time, your nurse will check your vital signs, start you on fluids to drink, assist you with ambulating and give you postoperative instructions and prescriptions from your surgeon.

When you are ready to go home, you must be accompanied by a responsible adult who can drive you home. It is recommended that a responsible adult be present with you at home for the first 24 hours following surgery.

Do not drive, use hazardous tools or equipment or make important decisions for 24 hours after your surgery.
