Midwifery care focuses on the obstetrical, gynecological and primary care needs of women including but not limited to physical exams, annual pap smears, breast exams, family planning, infection screening/treatment, pre-conception counseling, pregnancy, childbirth, post- partum, breast feeding and care of the newborn.

Care starts from adolescence and continues to post- menopause.

CNMs can prescribe contraceptives, hormones, antibiotics and many other medications and health care products.
