“Our vision for the new Cancer Center is to bring together the best oncology facilities, treatment and technology with a holistic healing approach that supports the healing of each patient.””

Expansion of Valley View Hospital’s Cancer Center
In 2010, Valley View Hospital announced ambitious plans to construct a new cancer center to better meet patient needs when facing a cancer diagnosis. Besides creating expanded room to more comfortably deliver care for cancer patients, Valley View excitedly announced the addition of radiation therapy to complement current medical oncological and surgical services available at the Hospital.
The cost to construct the new center was $33 million dollars, $26 million of which the Hospital secured through favorable financing. With a $7 million shortfall, the Valley View Hospital Foundation stepped in to bridge the gap and make state-of-the-art cancer care a reality at Valley View.
The Foundation’s Cancer Center Campaign
In 2010, the Valley View Hospital Foundation embarked upon its largest fundraising campaign to support the construction of the new cancer center at Valley View. Jim and Connie Calaway, local philanthropists, and Bob Young, the founder and Chairman of Alpine Bank stepped forward with lead gifts totaling $4 million. Other donors quickly joined with amazing gifts to realize the vision for comprehensive cancer care for our community. The generosity of these donors enabled the Foundation to realize its $7 million capital goal a full year ahead of schedule.
Full Spectrum Cancer Care – The Rally Fund
For 2012, the Foundation’s goal is simple: Enable Valley View’s Oncology team to treat the whole person, not just the disease of cancer, through support and survivorship services for patients at the Calaway • Young Cancer Center. Through the Rally Fund, patients are able to receive services designed to treat the whole person, not just the cancer. From counseling to yoga and massage, these services help cancer patients through their treatment and into survivorship. They also underscore Valley View’s commitment to whole-person care and a truly superb cancer care program.
