End of Life:

Aging with Dignity - National not-for-profit organization that promotes human dignity as America ages, with emphasis on improved care for those near the end of life. Distributes Five Wishes, an easy to use advance directive that over 1-million American families have used to discuss how they want to be treated during times of serious illness.

Americans for Better Care of the Dying - Dedicated to social, professional, and policy reform to improve care for patients with serious illness and their families.

Growth House - Search engine offers access to the Internet's most comprehensive collection of reviewed resources for end-of-life care. Inter-Institutional Collaborating Network on End-of-Life Care (IICN) links health care organizations through a shared network.

Last Acts - National coalition to improve care and caring near the end of life. The goal of the coalition is to bring death related issues out in the open and help individuals and organizations pursue better ways to care for the dying. The November 2002 state-by-state report, "Means to a Better End: A Report on Dying in America Today," may be accessed via this site.

American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine - (formerly the Academy of Hospice Physicians) International organization of physicians dedicated to the advancement of hospice and palliative medicine.

Colorado Hospice Organization - State organization that has a hospice locator among other helpful links and information.

Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association - National organization representing hospice nurses.

Hospice Foundation of America - Promotes the hospice concept of care through education, including the annual national bereavement teleconference.

National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization - Largest not-for-profit membership organization representing US hospice and palliative care programs and professionals. Develops public and professional educational programs and materials; convenes meetings and symposia on emerging issues; provides technical informational resources to members; conducts research; monitors Congressional and regulatory activities; and works closely with other organizations interested in end-of-life care.

National Prison Hospice Association - Advocacy organization promoting hospice care within prisons.

The Population-based Palliative Care Research Network (Po PCRN) - A practice-based research directed by Jean Kutner, MD, MSPH, Division of General Internal Medicine, University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. The Population-based Palliative Care Research Network (PoPCRN) is committed to enhancing the care of persons at the end of life and their families through the conduct and dissemination of high-quality research in palliative care settings.

The Colorado Healthcare Ethics Forum (CHEF) - The purpose of the Colorado Healthcare Ethics Forum (CHEF) is to provide a forum for chairs and members of Colorado healthcare ethics committees to discuss ethical issues.
