Your Needs and Safety

Patient Advocacy Program

If, during your stay at Valley View Hospital, you have a question, concern or special need as a patient, the Patient Advocacy Program may be able to help you. The Customer Service Representative is authorized by the hospital administration to learn of patients' needs and concerns and to refer these to the appropriate hospital personnel for prompt action.

If a patient, their legal representative or their family has a grievance, they should contact the Customer Service Representative. This can be done through the patient's nurse or directly by calling 970-384-6890. If the Customer Service Representative cannot resolve the problem, it will be referred to the hospital administrator (970-384-6600), who will have seven days for further investigation.

Spiritual Needs

If you would like to have a representative from the religious denomination of your choice visit, please notify your nurse or the Customer Service Representative and arrangements will be made. You are also invited to make use of the hospital chapel located on the first floor.

Ethics Committee

The hospital Ethics Committee is available for consultation and discussion of health care issues. The committee serves in a consultative or advisory capacity regarding specific cases and in a consensus developing role. The multi-disciplinary committee (comprised of doctors, nurses, a social worker, a member of the clergy and community members) provides a broad range of perspectives for consideration in order to assist in resolution of issues.

To obtain more information, or to access the Ethics Committee, please contact Administration (970-384-6600), or any member of the Ethics Committee.

Your Safety

Your safety is of constant concern to our staff while you are with us. Please help us by adhering to the following guidelines:

  • Always call a nurse when experiencing any trouble moving.
  • Bed rails are provided for your safety. Please leave them in the position set by your nurse.
  • On hospital grounds use handrails and observe other safety warnings.

Fire Drills

In order to maintain a high degree of alertness to a possible fire or disaster, hospital personnel on all shifts participate in fire and disaster drills. Please do not be disturbed by these drills. They are performed with your safety in mind.

The Family Rooms - Giving families the room to make the most important decisions in life
New for 2008, the Valley View Hospital Foundation will raise money to help fund the family rooms in the new patient care area. In addition to the two family rooms are a dining room with a kitchen.

The Planetree philosophy at V.V.H. recognizes that caring for the families helps everyone care more for the patients.
