Valley View Hospital’s Patient/Family Advisory Council will uphold the Planetree philosophy and demonstrate its values by involving staff and patients in actively improving the patient care of our hospital. We shall do this by listening to the needs of families and implementing change to improve the experience of future patients.
As a Planetree Designated Hospital, Valley View supports the philosophy by adopting a Patient/Family Advisory Council. Consisting of community members and caregivers who have had recent hospital experiences, the Council serves as a formal conduit for upholding the importance of patient centered care in our hospital and works together with staff to improve the satisfaction of patients and their families.
Accomplishments from 2010 - 2011:
• Assisted in the establishment of patient-friendly billing process
• Supplied the patient perspective in the Electronic Medical Record rollout
• Provided feedback on discharge process
• Established need for automatic patient door in Silt clinic
• Assisted with the Return Home project for recycled durable medical equipment
• Input given for Partners in Care Program
Our council is always looking for new members. Any patient or family member who feels that they would help provide insight in furthering patient-centered care at Valley View Hospital may consider joining our committee. We meet once a month on the third Monday at 5:00pm. We ask for a two-year commitment from our council members and sustain our membership at a maximum of 15. Members should be committed to the idea of positive change for Valley View, respect and value differing experiences and perspectives and be active listeners and contributors.
