On Friday, October 8th 2010 at the Spirit of Planetree awards dinner, Valley View Hospital was awarded the Distinction for Leadership and Innovation in Patient-Centered Care. The award recognizes Valley View for its work to continually advance the practice of patient-centered care through outreach, research, scholarship and innovation. A pilot program developed in 2009-2010, Planetree wanted to recognize Designated hospitals who promoted the patient-centered care model outside of their organization. Succinctly put, Designation looks inward at the organization and its patient-centered culture practices. Distinction examines how the organization continues its mission of patient-centeredness outward into the community at large.
The Distinction Award honors Valley View for complementing its ongoing work to meet the specific needs of its community and staff of professional caregivers with more broad-based efforts to build awareness, strengthen the case and continue to innovate in patient-centered care. Specifically, staff and leadership from Valley View have participated in national conferences and webinars, engaged in research to tie specific outcomes to patient-centered care, submitted articles for publication in national peer-reviewed journals and participated in public policy initiatives to expand the practice of patient-centered care.
Valley View is proud to be recognized as a Distinction hospital of Planetree along with Griffin Hospital in Derby, Connecticut and Northern Westchester Hospital in Mount Kisco, New York.
Congratulations to the entire Valley View family, for your continued commitment to our patients and patient-centered care.
