Planetree is a non-profit organization that provides education and information in a collaborative community of healthcare organizations, facilitating efforts to create patient-centered care in healing environments.
What is Patient-Centered Care?
Defined by the Institute of Medicine as "Providing care that is respectful of and responsive to individual patient preferences, needs and values and ensuring that patient values guide all clinical decisions."
Valley View embraced the Planetree philosophy in 2000, and each staff member, physician and volunteer has taken the mission of patient-centered care to heart. Planetree is a philosophy that focuses all decisions, first and foremost on the patient - as it should be. It's about doing what's right for the patient and their families; creating a partnership designed to solidify the collaboration of all caregivers and patients.
In 2007, Valley View became one of five hospitals nationwide, to be named a Designated Planetree Patient-Centered Hospital. This designation recognizes Valley View's achievements in patient comfort, dignity, empowerment and well-being.
