What to I do if I am sexually assaulted or raped?

DO:

  • Get to a safe place

  • Call 911 as soon as possible.

  • Tell a family member or friend you can trust.

  • Call a rape hotline or rape counselor in your area. See numbers in the right column.

  • Go to Valley View Hospital for an exam.

Until you have had an exam,

DON'T:

  • Shower, bathe, douche or brush your teeth.

  • Eat, drink, smoke or pee.

  • Change, wash or destroy your clothes.

  • Clean up the room.
