The People

Our Volunteers

Our Mission:
To serve and support patients and their families, the staff of Valley View Hospital and our community.

Our Vision:
Is health education

The Valley View Hospital Auxiliary has been in existence since the opening of the hospital in 1955. Since the beginning, the auxiliary has provided two very valued roles for the hospital – volunteer service and fundraising for special projects and equipment. That tradition continues today. Our volunteer corps exceeds 300 members and fundraising efforts last year raised over $50,000.

The mission of the auxiliary is Health Education for the community. To this end, the auxiliary dedicates all of its revenues to the Auxiliary Scholarship Program and the Connie Delaney Medical Library. The Heart to Heart Gift Shop at Valley View is staffed and managed by the auxiliary and volunteers, therefore 100% of the net proceeds from the gift shop are dedicated to the library and scholarship program also.

Volunteers are present in every aspect of our organization. We have volunteers greeting people when they come to the hospital and helping them to their destinations with kind words and a warm smile. Our volunteers provide support to staff assembling paperwork and mailing information to our community. Volunteers help file medical records and call mammography patients to remind them of their appointments. Volunteer drivers deliver hot meals to clients enrolled in our Meals on Wheels Program. In our Surgery Department, we have volunteers five days per week, assisting patients and staff with basic needs. The enriching smell of coffee and cookies that permeates throughout various areas of the hospital, are created by the hands of volunteers. Volunteers have been managing and staffing our gift shop since the start of the Hospital Auxiliary in 1955 as well as supporting the Blood Bank since 1957!

If you are looking for a meaningful place to contribute some of you valuable time, we are looking for you! Please look at our Volunteer Program web page for further information.

Our caring volunteers support us in our continuing drive for excellence, and serve both in and out of the hospital to keep their friends and neighbors healthy. We, as a health care facility and as a community, owe them our most gracious thanks.
