WHAT IS PATHWAY TO EXCELLENCE?
Pathway to Excellence designation recognizes organizations for their healthy work and positive practice environments where nurses are supported to advance and excel. To obtain this designation, organizations must meet the following six Practice Standards essential to an ideal nursing practice environment.

Earning Pathway designation will validate Valley View’s dedication to quality, safety, and professional practice.
HOW DO WE EARN THIS DESIGNATION?
The application process is very unique because it is built upon stories demonstrating how nurses at Valley View function as change agents, leaders, advocates, and lifelong learners. We are confident we already have the foundation needed for this designation. Our work over the next 18 months is to gather these stories.

The Professional Advancement Model (PAM) at Valley View provides the bedside nurse career advancement by recognizing progression in knowledge, clinical practice, leadership and teamwork.
Nurse Residency Program
The Nurse Residency Program (NRP) at Valley View has been assisting newly graduated RNs with their transition to practice since 2009. We are proud to say that our program achieved Accreditation with Distinction from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) in April 2018.
Annually, this program admits 2 cohorts of 5-10 new RNs who receive an extended orientation with a designated preceptor; monthly classes that focus on the needs of a transitioning Nurse; and most importantly a year of extensive support from Education Facilitators, the Program Director and the Nurse Residency Coordinator. NRPs are proven to increase new RN satisfaction and commitment with the Nursing Profession and increase retention.
2018 Nursing Awards
Tom embodies compassion and caring through his relationships with his colleagues, his care for patients and their families, and his ability to really hear what people are saying to him.
Krista was an LPN who graduated with her RN a little over a year ago and since then has done amazing things. She works diligently on initiatives to improve the wellness of patients in his/her clinic.
Nancy has a passion that visibly shines when involved in with the professional growth and development of nurses at Valley View.
It is impossible to describe in a few words what Dawn does for her units- she has gone above and beyond her job description.
Sandy wears many hats in the Valley View organization, and she ‘styles’ each one with professionalism, compassion and expertise.
Dr. Spence has been more supportive of me through my entire career than I ever could have hoped for. He respects me, values my opinion, teaches me and has supported every endeavor I’ve taken on.
I am pretty sure I nominate Anneliese for the Quality & Safety Nursing Excellence Award each year. She is always the first person that comes to my mind when I think of Quality and Safety. Not only is she 100% dedicated to the safety of her patients but she is equally cognizant of her coworkers.
There have been many new nurse residents come through the department, but one really stands out. Jessica completed the nurse residency program and she continues to want to learn and make a difference.
