Hormone Treatments
About Hormone Therapy
Hormone treatment at Women’s Health at Valley View can provide relief from several symptoms associated with perimenopause, menopause, and postmenopause. Our OB/GYN specialists offer both pharmaceutical and biomedical hormone replacement therapy options at our Glenwood Springs, Basalt, and Silt, CO locations. After a thorough examination of your current symptoms, blood hormone tests, and a review of your medical history, we will suggest the appropriate form of treatment for you. We can also evaluate if any additional tests need to be conducted to rule out any other existing conditions. Contact us at one of our Colorado facilities to learn more and to schedule your consultation with one of our board-certified OB/GYNs.
Ideal Candidates
There are several hormonal changes that may begin to occur at the onset of menopause, which typically starts around the age of 40. Some of the symptoms associated with the various stages of menopause as estrogen levels increase and decrease include:
– Hot flashes
– Months in between periods
– Changes in mood
– Vaginal dryness
– Sleeplessness
Treatment Details
Hormone replacement therapy is used to balance the levels of estrogen and other hormones in women, especially those that are in the stages of menopause. At Women’s Health at Valley View, we offer hormone pills, patches, creams, and suppositories with either bioidentical or pharmaceutical (synthetic) hormones.
Bioidentical Hormones
Bioidentical hormones are man-made to act similarly to the body’s own natural hormones. They are provided in varying forms to help balance out hormone levels and can be customized, depending on each patient’s needs.
Pharmaceutical Hormones
Pharmaceutical hormones are typically synthetic and may not represent as
closely as the hormones that are naturally found in the body.
Depending on your symptoms and medical history, our team of experienced
OB/GYNs will be able to identify which form of hormone replacement therapy
is best for you and your needs.
What to Expect
When using hormone replacement creams, it is important to remember that you may be at risk of exposing those around you to the hormones. To avoid this, you should make sure that the area of treatment is dry after application and before coming in contact with others. With all forms of hormone therapy, our team will give you proper treatment and aftercare instructions to ensure your best results.
