When can I see my provider's notes from my visit?
Your provider's notes are available to you after your visit. Most interactions, whether in the hospital or clinic, are summarized in notes written by your care team.
Our research indicates that patients who read their providers' notes understand their medical condition better and develop a more trusting relationship with their providers, which results in better outcomes. Read more about the national Open Notes initiative at opennotes.org.
When can I see my test results in MyChart?
With MyChart, you can view most test results as soon as they become available. Know that you will likely see results before your healthcare provider has had a chance to review them. After your provider reviews your results, you might see additional comments and interpretation in MyChart.
If I send a message to my provider, when can I expect a reply?
You will generally receive a response within 2 business days. Note that MyChart messages should not be used for urgent situations. Please contact your medical center if the situation requires immediate attention or dial 911 if it is an emergency.
Where can I update my personal information?
On the Personal Information page in MyChart, you can update your address, phone number, email address, preferred name, and other personal details at any time so that your clinic always has the most up-to-date information in your record.
How do I change my legal name in MyChart?
To make a request to change your legal name, email contact us or call our MyChart Patient Support Line at 855.467.0810.
What should I do if some of my information in MyChart is incorrect?
Your MyChart information comes directly from your electronic medical record at your provider's office. Ask your provider to correct any inaccurate information at your next clinic visit. Your health information is reviewed and updated in your electronic medical record after each visit.
Questions about MyChart for my family
How can I connect my minor child's account to my MyChart?
- Log in to your Valley View MyChart account.
- Click the Menu at the top of the screen.
- Scroll to the bottom Sharing section and click Request Family Access.
- On this page, look under Request access to the account of a child or teenager.

What are my access and capabilities for my minor child's MyChart?
MyChart capabilities vary by age group because State of Colorado and federal privacy laws and medical-consent rules change as children become teenagers and then adults. The table below offers an overview of your MyChart access and capabilities permitted for your minor child's account.
| Capability | Child younger than 14 | Teenager age 14–17 |
|---|---|---|
| Message a provider | Yes | Yes |
| Request a refill | Yes | No |
| See past and future appointments | Yes | No |
| Schedule an appointment | Yes | No |
| See test results | Yes | No |
| See immunization history | Yes | No |
| Complete eCheck-in | Yes | Yes |
| Sign consent forms | No | No |
MyChart is configured to change with these legal thresholds. Therefore, when a child turns 14 years old, the family access and capabilities will change automatically.
