About Ricki
Ricki Kumar, DO, is a pulmonary and critical care physician at the Lung Center at Valley View. He earned his medical degree at Des Moines University, then completed his internal medicine residency and pulmonary and critical care medicine fellowship at UCHealth Parkview Medical Center, in Pueblo, Colorado. While there, Dr. Kumar was chief resident and chief fellow and was awarded Resident of the Year in 2020 and Fellow of the Year in 2022 and 2023. Following fellowship, Dr. Kumar served as a travel physician, seeing patients around the United States.
Dr. Kumar loves all aspects of pulmonary and critical care medicine. His clinical interests include critical care medicine, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) asthma, interstitial lung disease, pulmonary hypertension, diagnostic lung cancer, sleep apnea, bronchoscopy, as well as other pulmonary and intensive care unit (ICU) procedures.
Currently, Dr. Kumar is a member of American College of Chest Physicians, American Thoracic Society and Society of Critical Care Medicine. He strives to deliver compassionate and informative care and believes it is important for his patients to understand the pathophysiology of their disease, taking the time to teach them about their illness and approach to treatment.
In addition to his work at the Lung Center, Dr. Kumar practices medicine at the Advanced Pulmonary and Critical Care of the Grand Valley in Grand Junction, Colorado, while continuing some work as a travel ICU physician.
Outside of work, Dr. Kumar is interested in science, astronomy, volunteer work, movies, hiking, and cooking.
