About Susan
Susan Williams, MD, is a provider at Valley View’s Internal Medicine. She earned her medical degree from University of Cincinnati College of Medicine as a member of the U.S. Army. Dr. Williams completed her residency in internal medicine at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. She has additional training in cardiology.
Prior to joining Valley View, Dr. Williams was an internal medicine staff member at Brooke Army Medical Center, where she was also an associate professor through the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences.
Of the different aspects to her career, Dr. Williams values face-to-face interactions with patients the most. She believes in arming patients with as much knowledge as they desire and in meeting patients where they are. “Patients need to feel empowered to take their health into their own hands,” she says. “Their doctor is an expert who can assist them in the process. I want patients to feel like they can ask me anything.” She also strives to establish long-term relationships with her patients and to be an asset to her Roaring Fork Valley community.
Originally from South Africa, Dr. Williams grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio. Before going to medical school, Dr. Williams enjoyed a career in the biking industry. She still enjoys both mountain biking and road biking, as well as hiking, yoga and gardening. She and her wife have one son.
