Recognition reflects continued commitment to high-quality, patient-centered care
Valley View is proud to share that the Calaway-Young Cancer Center has once again earned national accreditation from the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Commission on Cancer (CoC). This designation reflects our ongoing commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered cancer care—from prevention and diagnosis to treatment, survivorship and support.
The Commission on Cancer is a national consortium of professional organizations dedicated to improving outcomes and quality of life for patients with cancer. To earn CoC accreditation, programs must meet rigorous, national standards and undergo a comprehensive review every three years.
For Valley View, re-accreditation reflects years of dedicated teamwork and a sustained commitment to health care excellence.
"Receiving this re-accreditation is a true reflection of the incredible team we have here at Valley View and the Calaway-Young Cancer Center," said Brian Murphy, MD, chief executive officer of Valley View. "Nearly 15 years ago, we made a commitment to bring nationally recognized cancer care to our community, and this recognition is proof that we have never stopped working to honor that promise."
“Our patients can feel confident knowing they’re receiving care that meets the highest national standards throughout the mountain region and the Western Slope,” said Peter J. Rossi, MD, medical director of radiation oncology at Valley View and radiation oncologist at Calaway‑Young Cancer Center. “This renewal validates the work our team does every single day for the people we serve.”
As a CoC-accredited institution, Valley View is also recognized as an ACS Surgical Quality Partner, which highlights our dedication to consistently improving procedures and surgical care through careful review, performance evaluation and ongoing self-improvement. Patients can feel confident knowing that the care they receive at Valley View meets the highest national standards for surgical quality.
