Congratulations to the Valley View Hospital team, Scooby-Doo Mystery Ink, for placing second in this year’s Literacy Outreach Spellebration. The team consisted of Jean Winkler (Librarian), Mary Vaughn (Cancer Research) and David Preston (Pharmacy).

“The winning team correctly spelled the penultimate word, “treen,” and then “opsimath” to win, narrowly beating the team sponsored by Valley View Hospital.”

The Spellebration is the major fundraiser for Literacy Outreach and the Colorado Mountain College Learning Labs. Literacy Outreach is the only nationally accredited program in Colorado that provides hope and opportunity for adults who cannot read. Through private tutoring and conversation circles, Literacy Outreach has been helping language learners, and through them the entire community, for 29 years.
