About Michael

Michael Baird, MD, is a board-certified, fellowship-trained gastroenterologist at Valley View Gastroenterology Center.

After earning a Bachelor of Science in anatomy/physiology at Cornell University, Dr. Baird attended medical school at The Ohio State University, where he went on to complete his internal medicine residency and gastroenterology fellowship.

Prior to joining Valley View, Dr. Baird practiced gastroenterology at Mid-Ohio Digestive Disease Associates and GI and Colon Doctors of Wisconsin. He has also served as a clinical assistant professor of medicine at The Ohio State University Medical Center.

For Dr. Baird, the opportunity to connect with each patient and guide them on their health journey is at the heart of his practice.

"I feel a great sense of privilege to be able to help patients in dealing with their health—whether by addressing active medical issues or preventing issues before they start," he says.

Focus areas Dr. Baird is passionate about include preventive colorectal cancer screening, as well as diagnosis and treatment of eosinophilic esophagitis—an allergic condition where white blood cells build up in the esophagus, causing inflammation, difficulty swallowing and other symptoms.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Baird pursues scientific research on the fundamental nature of quantum dynamics and its applicability to biological systems. When he’s not working, he enjoys football, taking walks along the Roaring Fork River and learning to play guitar. He’s also an avid jazz fan, having spent part of his youth enjoying the vibrant music scene in the Village in New York City.
