About the program
The Tobacco Cessation Program at Valley View uses the personalized Quit Smart Program from Duke University, consisting of three small group classes. Its recommended that participants attend all three sessions for maximum benefit.
The first class occurs approximately two weeks prior to your established quit date. The second class is on your quit day, and the third class is approximately three days after your quit day.
Individual classes are available upon request.
A primary care provider is necessary if you decide to use medication to help in your tobacco cessation journey.
- The Connie Delaney Medical Library at Valley View provides books and resources for quitting.
- Carbon monoxide monitoring is offered free-of-charge at each session and as a follow up six months after completing the program.
- Pulmonary function screening tests will be offered free-of-charge upon completion of the third class session and again six or twelve months following completion of the program.
Integrated therapies are available to assist in tobacco cessation. Examples include but are not limited to the following:
- Healing Touch®
- Guided imagery
- Stress management/behavior modification
Additional charges may apply for integrated therapies.
Classes are offered on the first Tuesday of every month.
