Valley View is the most technologically advanced hospital on Colorado’s Western Slope, offering remarkable technology options that help reduce post-surgical pain, shorten hospital stays, and promote quicker rehabilitation.

Advanced technology is only as effective as the surgeons behind it. Each surgeon in the Valley View family has trained extensively in the technology in which they specialize, and many are setting the technology standards. This combination of technology and medical knowledge brings better care to all patients in The Roaring Fork Valley.

Valley View’s technology options include the following:

  • The Roaring Fork Valley leader in health care technology, Valley View is pleased to offer the da Vinci® Xi™ robotic surgical system, which features advanced instrumentation, vision and features such as integrated table motion. The da Vinci Xi offers versatility and flexibility, with setup automation and guidance that enhances operating room efficiency. With multi-quadrant access, it provides minimally invasive surgery options for gynecology and general surgery, including hernia repair.

  • Transforming the way partial or total knee replacements and total hip replacements are performed, the Mako Robotic Arm is a state-of-the-art technology that allows orthopedic surgeons to precisely perform joint replacement surgery. The treatment starts with a CT scan and virtual 3D model of the joint. That model is then loaded into the Mako system software to create a surgical plan that is based specifically on the patient’s unique anatomy. When a Valley View orthopedic surgeon performs the operation, the robotic arm assists the surgeon to provide precise component placement and alignment of the knee. This technology reduces post-surgical pain, shortens hospital stays, and promotes quicker rehabilitation.

  • ValleyOrtho, part of Valley View, was the first in Colorado to use the ExactechGPS computer-assisted navigation for total shoulder replacement, leading to better outcomes and faster recovery times for patients. This technology helps Valley View’s surgeons plan shoulder replacement surgeries with improved precision and accuracy. During a shoulder replacement procedure, Exactech creates and displays a 3D anatomical model of the patient’s shoulder so their doctor can better visualize the procedure and make adjustments in real time.

  • ValleyOrtho is the first group on Colorado’s Western Slope to offer the state-of-the-art biodegradable InSpace™ subacromial balloon spacer, which treats massive and irreparable rotator cuff tears (MIRCTs). The InSpace subacromial balloon implant is designed to restore shoulder function and reduce pain without traditional fixation techniques, minimizing recovery time. Traditional arthroscopic repair of a torn rotator cuff involves suture and anchor fixation and requires months of physical therapy for recovery. • The UroLift System is a proven minimally invasive procedure to treat an enlarged prostate. It works by holding the enlarged prostate tissue so it no longer blocks the urethra. It is an earlier treatment option that can get men off BPH medications and avoid major surgery. It is also the only leading enlarged prostate procedure that does not require heating, cutting or destruction of prostate tissue.
The procedure is typically performed as a same-day outpatient procedure, in the office setting, under local anesthesia.

  • Valley View’s orthopedic surgeons and physician assistants use a variety of injectable medications, including Platelet-Rich Plasma, to provide pain relief or improved viscosity to sore joints. Platelet-Rich Plasma, or PRP, is an advanced injection option utilizing platelets from the patient’s own blood to help injuries heal faster. The physicians at ValleyOrtho apply this to many joints of the body including the shoulder, elbow, hip and knee.
